SAT
Our SAT classes have been uniquely
designed to build key skills and effective strategies aimed at conquering
the SAT. Our sessions take place in small classes
and are customized to the individual learning needs of our students,
and are designed to maximize the efficiency of test-taking techniques
and ultimately, the student¡¯s scores on the SAT.
Throughout the course, students will be drilled and tested
on English vocabulary. Having knowledge of a large amount of English
vocabulary is fundamental to success on the SAT. Consequently, students will learn an average
of 60 new words per day, and are also encouraged to incorporate
the words they have learned into their writing and conversations.
Our SAT program includes:
- Customized lectures and group
- Concept reinforcement and test-taking
strategies
- After-class study schedule
- Roadmap for SAT preparation
- Personal copies of hundreds
of SAT questions, including answers and detailed explanations
- Vocabulary building strategies
The SAT program at Vancouver Georgia
College features two distinct levels, both catering to the specific
profile of students¡¯ weaknesses and strengths.
We carefully evaluate each student¡¯s performance on a diagnostic
SAT exam before placing him or her in the appropriate group.
The two different levels of our
SAT program are:
LEVEL
I (Grades 7 – 9)
Generally, students suited for
Level I are in grades 7 to 9.
For the most part, these are students who are looking to
get a head start on the SAT exam by preparing early and practicing
often. Some have already
taken the SAT, while others may not have. Either way, these students need to learn
basic SAT test-taking techniques and solidify their knowledge of
the test material. Level
I provides the students with an in-depth introduction to the
format and substance of the test, laying a strong foundation for
the students to build upon.
By beginning their preparations for the SAT much earlier,
students will develop strong foundations of knowledge and gain increased
familiarity with the test. In this sense, these students will have
a strong advantage over other test-takers.
LEVEL
II (Grades 10 – 12)
Generally, Level II students tend
to be in grade 10 or 11. This
level caters to those who, as more mature high school students,
have already been introduced to most of the test material.
While these students may already be somewhat familiar with
the basic concepts and ideas contained in the SAT, they require
guidance and instruction in order to further learn and apply their
knowledge to the format of the test. Furthermore, Level II will focus on developing
greater efficiency through the mastery of test-taking strategies,
and will also reinforce mathematics, critical reading, and writing
skills.
